Learn more about how we work

Wellworth is unique within the healthcare space.

  • Healthcare advisors are experts on physical and behavioral healthcare (including elder health and substance abuse) who help high net worth individuals, families, and small companies better navigate the healthcare system and mitigate risk.

Specifically, healthcare advisors evaluate a person’s holistic healthcare ecosystem including health insurance coverage, treatment options, top-tier providers and programs, and second opinions. They offer guidance during challenging healthcare decisions.

  • While concierge doctors do everything a primary care physician does, including minor urgent care services and diagnostic screenings, they don’t plan and organize care, or interact with a patient’s other advisors or family members like a healthcare advisor will do.

Unlike concierge doctors, healthcare advisors attend appointments with a patient, do extensive research into treatment options and specialty programs, coordinate care, speak in-depth with providers, address health insurance and billing issues, provide in-depth support during hospitalizations, and manage care at home.

  • While some other firms may provide niche expertise, typically offered by a single individual, they often fall short in addressing all healthcare touchpoints comprehensively. We also do not have pre-arranged relationships and contracts. Any referral coming from Wellworth is objective and unbiased. Lastly, our team members possess a depth of experience and seniority that sets them apart from advisory members at other firms. Many of our team members also boast prestigious educational backgrounds, with several hailing from Ivy League institutions.

Wellworth is the only healthcare advisory firm that covers all aspects of health: physical and mental health, health insurance coverage, new diagnoses, emergencies, accidents, aging and homecare, and substance abuse.

  • Our relationships with family offices run deep. Many family offices buy advisory hours from Wellworth, which they then pass on to clients. Other times, they refer family members who have more in-depth healthcare needs directly to us.

Healthcare issues are often intertwined with financial and legal issues, so it makes sense for both financial, legal, and healthcare advisors to partner to look out for families’ best interests.

  • Our advisory rate is $600 per hour. For family offices, we offer 50-hour retainers starting at $30,000. For individuals and families, we offer 12-hour retainers starting at $3600.

  • No, but we have insider knowledge on health insurance plans, and regularly help people find the right insurance for their needs to ensure your coverage protects your health and wealth.

We also help navigate policies, claims, and procedure codes to ensure you are getting the best possible care and are not being overcharged.

  • No. Any health insurance recommendations we make are objective. We have no affiliation with insurance carriers, nor do we receive a commission for referrals.

  • The healthcare system is complicated, and it's easier to get great care when you have a team of healthcare experts looking out for you. The Wellworth team is made up of people who have extensive experience working in top hospitals and medical facilities. We developed our expertise through many years of tackling complex problems for patients to improve their care. We support you every step of the way and explain things in plain English.

We understand how the healthcare system works, and we use that hands-on knowledge and experience to help you get the care you deserve. Whether you want guidance on being and staying healthy, understanding a new diagnosis, getting a second opinion, or identifying the best ways to manage an existing condition, we work with you one-on-one to create a personalized approach.

  • There is a small world of high-quality physicians and treatment programs in the U.S., and we work with all of them. Our team has worked and trained at top institutions, and we leverage their insider knowledge to help our clients get the best possible care.

  • We have deep experience handling cancer-related diagnoses, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's, elder care, substance abuse issues, behavioral health concerns, handling failure to launch in adult children, emergency room visits, neurological conditions, accessing hard-to-find medicines, dementia, and more. Because we take a multidisciplinary approach, we are especially well equipped to care for those who have multiple conditions, where coordinated care is more challenging.

  • A personal healthcare plan begins with a custom health assessment, including in-depth interviews with individuals and their family members, key doctors and advisors, and a review of medical records.

This assessment examines the following: Is the current health insurance adequate and optimal? Do people have the right doctors? Are the doctors addressing all of their medical needs (not just the one that initiated contact)? Are people getting the care they need and deserve? Is there an emergency plan in place? Do individuals have a clear understanding of future costs of care?

Following this assessment, we craft a comprehensive plan. It includes detailed recommendations on insurance coverage options, providers and treatment programs, health education (including, for example, the latest insights on sleep health), and a contingency plan for emergencies.

  • After we understand your current health situation, we put plans in place for emergencies – which are more common than people realize. Especially if you are over 60, you should have a plan in place to make sure you are getting the best possible care – and are going to the right ER. Planning ahead mitigates health and financial risk.

  • You will be matched with a point person who has specific expertise in your care situation. This perspective is complemented by the perspectives of our broader team because healthcare for high net worth individuals is often complicated.

Our experts are specialists in various facets of healthcare, including behavioral health, geriatric medicine, cancer, neurological conditions, and substance abuse treatment, just to name a few. Furthermore, we operate cohesively, holding weekly team rounds to ensure we are tapping into the expertise of everyone in our firm.

  • We have extensive experience in the compassionate care of elderly clients. Healthcare, and especially geriatric care, can be very expensive. We understand the financial challenges that can accompany assisted living and memory care facilities, even for those with substantial resources. Wellworth works with providers to make adjustments so your loved ones are getting the exceptional care they deserve without unnecessary overspending.

  • Wealthcare recognizes and values the profound link between health and wealth-building strategies. It’s reflected in our mission to mitigate risk. Our vision is a world where health management holds equal importance to wealth management. Just as financial advisors skillfully mitigate financial risk, our advisors proactively mitigate health risk, with a watchful eye on your unique financial picture—all while upholding the utmost respect for your privacy.

We bring a holistic, bespoke approach to your needs, factoring in both health and wealth to empower you to make informed decisions that lead to a healthier and financially secure future.

  • Yes. Our CEO, John Samuels, regularly presents to industry organizations, wealth firms, family offices, and their clients on such topics as health advisory, healthcare trends, and COVID-19.

We speak about how both families and advisors can reap the benefits of having a healthcare advisory at their disposal, offering insights into topics like tips on health insurance coverage, insights on the healthcare delivery system in our country, and ideas on how to minimize care costs.
