Dr. Shani Muhammad, MD, FAAFP is a board‑certified family physician with a focus on lifestyle and preventive medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, and completed both her Doctor of Medicine and Family Medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University/MetroHealth.
Following residency, Dr. Muhammad served four years with the National Health Service Corps in medically underserved Fresno, California, delivering full‑spectrum primary care — including obstetrics — in rural communities. Her subsequent career has spanned rural, urban, and suburban settings; today she provides nationwide virtual care through SteadyMD and serves as Medical Director of Appeals & Grievances for a California Medicaid health plan, where she advances population‑health strategies for high‑risk patients.
Dr. Muhammad contributes to professional standards and public‑health policy as a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Commission on Quality & Practice and the California Academy of Family Physicians’ Committee on Public Health. Away from work, she enjoys strength training, running, and perfecting her sourdough loaves, and lives in California with her husband, children and two cats.
