How Wellworth helped a teenager overcome depression and an eating disorder

SITUATION

“Alison” was showing signs of severe depression and suffering from an eating disorder. Her father, Chris, was desperate to help her, but unsure how. The family’s wealth advisor referred him to Wellworth.

Severe depression and eating disorders are both serious illnesses, and they are often treated separately. We conducted a national search and found a great program out of state that took her insurance and could treat both illnesses.

We expedited Alison’s admission and met with her medical team there on a weekly basis to navigate her treatment. Chris relocated to be near her during her stay, and as he witnessed his daughter’s struggles, he experienced some health challenges of his own. We set him up with an expert medical team, including a psychiatrist.

Alison has gained weight and has learned coping skills to help her overcome her depression. With Better’s resources and guidance, Chris is able to access the treatment he needs and is confident in his ability to manage Alison’s care.
