Parkinson’s

Overcoming Parkinson's, isolation, and financial stress

Tom, 49-year-old executive, Manhattan

SITUATION

“Tom” came to Wellworth with a history of Parkinson’s disease, social isolation, and cognitive decline. He was disorganized and felt overwhelmed by his medical bills.

SUPPORT

Careful evaluation determined that Tom’s Parkinson’s disease was wellcontrolled with medication and electrical stimulation. We recognized that his underlying depression was making him feel alienated and unmotivated. We arranged for psychiatric intervention, and he was prescribed psychotropic medication, including an antidepressant and a potentiating agent. We began working collaboratively with his family office and financial advisors on a monthly basis to organize his medical bills and make the appropriate payments.

RESULT

Tom’s quality of life drastically improved. He became more involved in social activities and started taking a specialized exercise class for people with Parkinson’s disease.
